Carolyn,
Pedigrees are great, but I don't need them really, I am not that great at them. I have my Master Trainer help me with that.
What I look for is a dog that is going to do the job. I have seen plenty of mixed breeds (I know a mixed breed lab that was a bomb dog at RDU International Airport that did dignitary work) or non pedigreed dogs do the job better than some of the pure "working line" dogs.
I would still choose pup B for a novice. Pup A sounds like a tiger, like I said before, and therefore could become dog aggressive and/or people aggressive if not in the right hands. Not saying you could not do it, but the above is a possibility that you might want to consider.
And I agree about pup C, sounds like you just kind of gave her a passing glance, so maybe she did not get a fair evaluation?
Anyway you could download some video for us?

Hi. Thanks for your opinion. I agree with you on the pedigrees.
I interacted with all the pups for some time. When they came out of the pen (B and C) they were exploring their surroundings. When they were walking around - they weren't interested in tug. They were exploring.
I have some pictures of all of the dogs. These were taken three weeks ago. The black/red pup is puppy A. Yes, she is the bully and she is a German showline dog.
The litter on the bottom is the working litter. They were about six weeks old at the time. Puppy B is in there somewhere.
I forgot to take the camera with me. Hence, no new pictures.

Well good luck ,now can you share what pedigree he is?
No person here is biased on pedigree, sometimes it matters and sometimes it does not.But some dogs have reproduced themselves at every litter and so it is nice to know what to expect from the pup of certain litters. Some of us have been around and traveled long enough to say "hey carolyn , expect this from your pup and do this with your pup , it's best with that lineage"
Nothing more Carolyn, don't be scared of criticism, it's all positive ..I wish you luck with this new pup, it'sa huge responsibility...
Hi,
I had someone look at the pedigree and because there is such a mix...
This is the dam's (GiGi) pedigree: (partial list)
Her mother: Katia Von Holzland
Sire:Uras Von Haus Anja - Hort V. Busecker Schloss (?)-Carmen Vom Haus Basti
Dam:Arta z Malksskeho-Rex z Blatenskeho-Zamku-Arika z Malcickeho Udoli
Her sire: Cazar von der wildnis haus
sire:Arry von der Holz Hutte-San von der Wienerau-Amsel von Knick
Dan:Biene von der Eichenhof-voldo vom Kirschental-Ria von der Weissen Taube
I know this is a mix. I was told the pedigree will not help give an impression of the pup because of the mix.

*Please excuse any misspellings. I will upload the pedigree to the database once I have a copy of it.*
Oh, I don't mind the criticism. I had a friend look at the pedigrees and she was able to give me some good information. She told me: Greif was a good thing, the DDR stuff was good and she wasn't familiar with the showline or Czech stuff. She did say the Czech dogs were not from the popular lines.
I don't have the sire's pedigree.
The breeder I am getting him from is honest and cares for the dogs. the dogs are also raised on a farm with geese, horse and so on.
I am by no means a "serious' schutzhund person. If I can title my dog, great. If not, that is okay, too. I just want a GSD dog with a solid temperament.
(From Carolyn W.) "I am by no means a "serious' schutzhund person. If I can title my dog, great. If not, that is okay, too. I just want a GSD dog with a solid temperament."
In my opinion your last statement is the best one I read. You seem to have an understanding of what you are going to do and it sounds like the most important thing for you is to HAVE FUN WITH YOUR DOG!
The "solid temperament" part is how you will achieve this. It is the most important thing when considering any dog.
