I'm not sure where you are getting the cross breeding from. The gsd is an import from czech and is from tarheel canine training facility.
I should mention the site is under construction and is only in the beginning phases of development. I appreciate all feedback, including Will's. His advice was taken under advisement and corrections were made accordingly. There will be updates often during the next few weeks. I request only constructive advice, not unfortunate off the cuff comments. However, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And I appreciate any advice/comments that can be made.
I respect your comments and will use them to help advance the website.
I guess when I click on Studs and there is a Mal and a GSD and then I click on Females and there is the Dutch is where I wondered....
That's all. People who know about breeding would figure this out probably, but people that do not know may tend to think that the dogs are being bred together....
I do agree with you 100% about well behaved companion animals.
Until The Tale of the Lioness is told, the Story will Always Glorfy the Hunter
I understand what your saying. Maybe I'll look at changing that. There is the female malinois which we haven't gotten any pictures of yet. We need to get that up there. The dutch shepherd, which is about the sweetest dog on the planet!, is actually spade. I know he's looking to train a gsd bitch and breed her with the male. Thanks!
Yes, I definitely was taken aback and thought "pooch" was an unprofessional term to use in conjunction with protection sports. Together with the lack of other serious information - I checked out the entire site - the term raised a red flag in my mind. I agree that I have no idea of this person's training skills, but that's because there's nothing on the site that indicates he or his dogs have any kind of track record. If the trainer does indeed have a lot of training skills and experience, you need to get that on there ASAP. Unfortunately, the web site in its present state gives me a "back-yard trainer" feeling.
I really don't want the above to sound snide, aggressive or defensive! Please just take it as a calm statement of how the web site comes across.
Second, at no point was feedback requested. I simply posted the site as an advertisement for anyone in the surrounding area needing a trainer.
Okay, I apologize. But in my defense, this board isn't usually a place that's full of advertisements (thank God!). It's a board that's full of feedback, so don't be surprised if you get it!
Secondly, I do appreciate companion animals! In fact, I train companion animals exclusively...not protection or sport animals. I was just saying that the reference to a "pooch" is a companion animal type term and it was my understanding that it was in the protection training section, not the companion animal training section. So it might give the impression, indirectly, that this trainer thinks companion animals are suited to the PPD training, which is not usually the case.
At any rate, you seemed very defensive about Anita's comment and I was just trying to say that I could understand what she meant. I don't think she was trying to attack you or the site.
No offense taken! I appreciate people's feedback. I also appreciate explanations. I think the thing I am most impressed about is the understanding posts. There has been no bad mouthing or ignorant talk. That isn't always commen in forums.
I hope I cleared up any questions, concerns or confusion about the post. Thanks a lot for the conversation. I really enjoy talking to other dog people!
People here on this site are trying to help you. There are some valid points. I went to your site and I don't see any mention of "pooch" anymore, or "accidents" from firing guns, so that's a start.
Here's a couple other ideas: (take it or leave it)
* Stud dogs without titles will only impress pet people, and they ought not be buying a wildfire Mali in the first place
* Show some examples of the good dogs he's produced from his breeding program
* You can clarify the cross-breeding confusion by listing something like "Malinois and GSD litters coming soon!". At the only PSA club that I've been to I saw lots of cross-bred dogs, so I understand how people could get that impression.
* Advocating a PPD as the best security solution for the Average Joe may not be such a good idea. It's all too common that people buy a tough dog thinking they have solved their security problem without knowing the first thing about dogs. Better to say something like "Let's talk and see if a PPD is right for you and your family."
* Present some credentials for Nick, for example, how many dogs he's titled, how many happy clients he's had, share some success stories from satisfied customers (even from the pet people!)
