I feed my dog Chicken Soup. Tried using Innova for awhile, but it just didn't sit with him well. I may try Canidae to see how it works with him though.
I feed raw, but I also occasionally feed cooked raw
Not often, but cooked meats are way easier and more pleasant to handle as training or tracking treats. I also bring along cooked meats for the dogs during long car trips or on "picnics".
I personally don't have enough trust in commercial dog foods to even use them as training treats. Don't need them anyway, raw is easy and fun and the dogs are as healthy as can be on it!

I actually bought some ZUKE's treats from leerburg and my dogs love them as much as the NB rolls. The NB rolls will be going back.
I also ordered a food dehydrator and it is in, so I will also make my own treats as well as using the ZUKES's.
It is worth the extra time and effort and now I don't have to worry....after all the info posted here and bouncing back and forth about safe, maybe safe and not safe, I am not taking any chances anymore.
My pack is gonna love me....

We have a dehydrator also and I make jerky treats for the dogs. Buy roast beef from the deli or raw meat and dry it and the dogs love it. This may sound a little cheesy, but we have the Ronco dehyrdrator and it works great. You can probably order it online for 30 or 40 dollars.

I have that Ronco dehydrator ordered from an infomercial too.
Got it YEARS ago.
It works great.... I agree.
I've seen them for $20 on an "as seen on TV" site. I think I paid $40.
I feed raw now, but I was feeding Innova (not EVO...never tried that) along with premade meat patties. Innova is what I recommend for those die-hard kibblers, before the recall and after.
2 GSDs eat raw, just switched the pup (now 1 yr) from Canidae...my older Cairn Terrier eats Canidae, also. I have also used Merrick cans in the past.
For treats, I use Canidae Snap Biscuits, Zukes, Liver Biscotti, or Simon and Huey's. I also make a lot of my own treats...have found that mixing a bunch of stuff in a bowl with a few eggs, a little flour or oatmeal, etc. makes some yummy treats. The last ones I did had ground turkey, cooked and blended, some oatmeal, some honey, a little flour for thickening.
Steve and Connie, thanks for the dehydrator sales pitch! lol
I'll look into it, definitely within my budget. Dried liver would certainly be way less messy to handle in training than mushy cooked liver - can't wait to try it out
