You know I have taken a obedience /socialization class for many years now and I have noticed that when the handler would kinda turn heads to talk to the trainer or ask questions their dog would break their commands, not all but quiet a few. And our trainer would always say look to the handler next to you and say "hello, how are you " to test your dogs position.I saw so many times a dog break its' down or sit for a simple small talk by their handler to the trainer. And he would have us change from normal voice to a little excitable tone ect. as training progressed. It worked. Our dogs would be more and more secure in their position.
