Man...If I lived that close they would have to cut me off like a bartender with someone who's had a few too many.
Oh man, don't I know it . I'm curious about the longevity of the interlocking treats myself; My Greyhound is pretty easy on things but my Dobe's nickname is "Destructo-pinsch" He's the one that de-continents the Orbees, usually a whole continent at a time.
I didn't get everything I wanted at Leerburg because of my newly enforced "dog" budget... and $500 in unexpected vet bills in the last week didn't help.
I got an everlocking treat today. I gave it to Abby (snapped and locked into an everlasting treat ball), and took out the lab to train. I got back in in about 20 minutes and it was GONE. TOTALLY COMPLETELY GONE! I couldn't believe it! It didn't last as long as the everlasting treats that she pops right out of the ball. I wish I had watched because I can't imagine how she got them out and ate them so fast!
I'd try again and see if it was a fluke, but they're made in China and contain wheat and corn gluten. I'm assuming the FDA ban only covers imports of the ingredients themselves, no imports of products made from the ingredients?? I contacted Triple Crown to see if a rep has visited the place where it's manufactured or if there are quality controls in place. I'm curious to hear back and will post their response.
I can tell you that my cattle dog goes through these like they're nothing...What I did find lasted her a little longer is combining it with the Everlasting Fun ball and screwing the ends close to the ball. At least with her the shape makes it a little harder for her to finish off.
I still give them to her once and a while because she really enjoys them.
In the treats defense she is a chewing machine.....

There was a thread a while back about the everlasting product and I was interested. I have resisted bying these types of treats in the past, but I know my dog would LOVE them. However, I can't find an ingredient list on Leerburg or on Triple Crown's website. The fact that a product is advertised as "%100 digestable" is not a great selling feature to me and the fact that it says "natural" does not mean a whole lot to me either. Do they really have real vanilla and mint in the products? Is "wheat and corn gluten" "natural" for a dog?
That said I realize it is a treat and not a main food source so maybe no big deal. Maybe having the dog entertained for an hr is well worth the chicken flavour and gluten
Good for you checking into this Anne, I hope you will post when you get the answer to the question. There has been a lot of talk on this site and others about knowing what is in what you feed your dogs. Many have even said they would only buy things with USA ingredients.
My dog will have to survive with a peice of meaty deer vertebrea to keep him busy tonight Are there risks involved? Yes. I would never leave him at home alone with it either. I do know it is "%100 digestable and natural" though
Jennifer, that's exactly why I would never buy those treat-in-a-ball toys anymore than I would feed store-bought treats for my dogs.
Nothing good can come from food with indefinate shelf-life (unless it's dehydrated meat) and again, not listing the ingredients is not a good sign. I agree with you
I'm actually surprised that Ed decided to sell these, especially without listing the ingredients on the site... I know for a fact that he wouldn't feed his dogs any food with corn & wheat gluten in it, so what makes treats with it ok?
Meaty deer vertebra is a million times better for dogs - I'd go with that any day
I made the decision to sell these because I talked to the people we buy them from and they know my position on all-natural diets. They assured me that the products used in these treats were 100% safe.
We understand your concern,we had our products tested and they are free of melamine. They are safe for your pets to enjoy. If you have anymore questions or concerns please feel free to contact us again. Have a great day.
