Does this include the dog bringing a toy and setting it on your lap? If so, what would be the propper response to this? Just ingnoring it all together, slowly placing the toy/item on the ground and saying "No!" I know I just went a little off the toppic of jumping, sorry.
The proper thing to do would be to not leave toys on the ground for the dog to place on your lap. YOU decide when to play, not the dog.
That said dogs have their own way of letting you know it really IS play time, even without toys laying around Instead of reinforcing that behavior (if you find it undesirable) you could ignore the dog or redirect the dog to a downstay or something for a few minutes. Then as a reward for the downstay (doing something for you), you can bring out the toy and play!!
That is off topic and remember I am not Ptlm. Matthew Grubb. He may have a different answer.
By toy i was more refering to a kong, witch he will pull out of his crate and we let him have that around the house. I dont know if that is a no no or not but it is something that he directs a lot of energy into while he is laying at me feet while i watch tv or am working on my computer.
