Thanks for the other (and better) link with more info about the story and how it unfolded. To me, there is no more credible source of information than the SIX officers that saw him kick his own K9 multiple times resulting in his dog's death.
Obviously the other officers that saw this felt strongly enough to tell the DA what happened and rightfully so. Obviously Cockfield's defense attorney has every intention of trying to shake the charges with the "travesty of justice" comments. I really doubt this is the first time he has kicked a dog that hard. It merely marks the first time a dog died as a result of his actions.
Hopefully with all the extra time Mr. Cockfield has off, he might read this and know that we know who he is. He should be ashamed but he probably feels he has done nothing wrong, it was just a "Commotion of the heart." I am sure they will go for the genetic heart defect defense and try and plead mercy for lesser charges. The judge should order some hard stick and leg kicks on the defendant and go from there.
