Ill tell you what yous have all gave me great feed back , i started to take him back this evening ,we were in the tahoe windows down and he had his head out the window sniffing the air and leaned over and gave me a big wet lick on the cheek so we made a uturn headed to pets marts and spent more than i planned to so its safe to say hes finally home. even though hes scared im not, by the way ive had him less than 2 weeks . If ive learned anything its just because a dogs a good barker it doesnt mean hes a good dog !!! i wanted a watch dog but the good lord had other plans for me
thank you to all that replied
victor
Glad to hear your boy found himself a good home Alot of times with dogs like this I see that with one-on-one bonding and a good relationship with their owner they can turn around completely. The nerves will never be where they should be but their personality does a whole 180 as they learn to trust you.
Hi mike ! im glad i decided to keep him and i believe you 100% about him coming around . he follows me everywhere i go , when i take him out to the yard hell play with me some with good pep and bounce in his step and tail wagging so i know theres hope its just not a quick fix! im going to try some counter conditiong along with some clicker training , all motovational positive reinforcement work. i know some people that have thier high priced high titled dogs look at rescues as worthless but i dont look at it like that , sometimes we all need another try at this thing called life ! im sure down the road ill travel to germany and buy one of the best working dog money can buy i have family there . I know the odds are stacked against max being a decent dog bvut when i started my buisness the odds were against me but now everyone i know thinks im the local bank sometimes i like being the under dog because it pays off !
2 weeks, Victor! That's not very long; you have no idea what he's been through. He may not turn out to be as bad as you think; all dogs adjust at different rates. He could've been very bonded to his previous owner, and is therefore understandably nervous and upset.
Sooo glad you've decided to keep him. He could be a great pet just needing someone to give him the chance to get comfortable. Whatever you put into him, I'm sure you'll get back! Thanks for taking him on when many others would've given up!
i agree w/jenni: 2 weeks!! give him some time to get to know you and your place; socialize him (i've got to get my boy out more as he's getting dog-aggressive), he may be just what you need: raise cain when someone comes around the yard.
that's simple enough isn't it? then you come out to back him up and check it out w/his help.
