I brought my Dog down to the breeders last night as that is where we do our Shutzhund training and had the other trainers evaulate her pads. It is just blistered from friction and her pad being dry while she is working.
The Breeder uses this compound that he picked up at a equine store for horse hooves called Coppertherm he says that this stuff really works well applied on the days leading up to a trail but is messy and can stain hardwood etc. He also reccomended 'Mushers Secret' it is a wax based compound that you'd apply before activities as well. He didn't reccomend dog booties he is of the thought that a Malinois won't keep them on.
The other company Therapaw looks more like a copy of the neopaw boot and is more geared towards vet use. Plus it is pretty expensive. http://www.therapaw.net/whatTheraPaw.html
As for dog boots I found 2 companies boots that look as strong as the other posters reccomended boots. This company https://www.neopaws.com/catalog/neoprene...0d7806d3cfbad67 state various SAR teams and Police use them, they look pretty well thought out and are pretty inexpensive.
I found these useless personally. I could not get my dog's feet into them with the smaller size and the size up would not keep from twisting around. They are the ones I cut into doggie gaiters with success. I also can't see a mal in these, but you may have better luck.
To those of you that use booties, do you find that the dogs trip on them? My girl rips her pads open when I run her, also when we go for hikes. I just worry that if I were biking and she was to trip, we might hurt ourselves. I use muttlukks in the winter to keep her feet warm, and they work well, but I haven't tried them during excercise.
"My pit bull is a hero because she holds her head up high despite what the world thinks of her"
It is obvious that my dogs feel a little uncomfortable in them. Just a strange feeling to them, I guess. Once the dogs are in motion running beside me there is no difference in the way they trot.
I can't just leave the dogs out with them on, as they'll use their teeth and yank them off.
