I would wait until you have more time. Potty training with a C.C. is a pain in the butt. They mature slowly and if you do not have more time to dedicate the first month or so for potty training I would say it is a bad idea.
Also make sure to get italian bloodlines, not american italian bloodlines.
when i was about 16 my family had an adopted rott so i personaly consider that a large breed (i know lots of ppl do)and even when he was an adult he pulled with his harness a little and i could handle him so im positive i could handle a corso.
I bolded your thoughts that are red flags to me about you getting a corso. I don't know a lot about the corso, but I know they are not a rott. I also know they don't just pull a little. There is a lot more to these dogs from what little I have read...
Michele,
A corso is alot harder, and requires puppy kindergarden for sure if you want a well balanced one. My goal was to be able to have a perfectly balanced protection dog. If not done corectly they will become a liability. Im not saying any of this to sway anyone away from the breed, but understand it is ALOT of work.
Now would I ever give my boy up? hell no. He has been one of the best dogs I have had the pleasure of calling mine. And his personality is the greatest part about him.
To the poster that is thinking of getting one think long and hard about it because the last thing the breed needs is a bad rep. by you not having the time or the know how to raise one properly.
sorry i havent been on in a little. im guan start off by saying when i said "am i ready" i really ment that with my scheldule, would i be ok having a puppy cc without having big problems. I could posilby take of 3 weeks to take care of him getting potty trained to awnser steves question. also i would deffenatly be getting good italian line. I would be able to do OB classes as well as training him at home. My hesitation is that i am afraid that if i get a puppy my sched. wouldnt be aloud to house a puppy (that was my original question) but after your responses i feel great in having him fit right in.(i was aftaid being at work woudl be 2 long in crate even with 1 potty break mid way). To steve again i would deffenatly be taking the greatest care i possibly could of the pup and he would be taken to as many classes as i could as i would like him to grow up being a companion, guardian and a breed "ambassador" so to speak
