So far I've only bought canned mackerel and there haven't been any problems with bones. I know sardines are an option also and they have very tiny bones.
My dogs LOVE the mackerel and I try and feed it every other week. I can only find it at certain grocery stores, but they devour it, so it's worth an extra trip.
I know there are certain fish to stay away from, but you can probably do a search to find out about it on previous threads.
Glad you made the switch, you just need to find the right thing to get your dog hooked!
How much are you guys paying for your mackerel. Im wondering about the cost between canned and fresh and if there is any difference in preperation. do they debone or just grind it all up?

Bones in canned fish are cooked to the soft stage, past the point of splinters or shards that regular cooking creates.
If you can get low-sodium, that's great. If not, and if you are using it often, you might consider rinsing off some salt.
I don't grind it up. Even if you are grinding other items, you will see that canned bone-in fish like mackerel, sardines, and salmon is very soft.

I have noticed she hasnt been going #2 as much or as often.. Which is cool with me.. Im just wondering where the stuff is going. She used to pass alot while feeding her kibble.
She's eating food that her body needs and uses now.
What Connie said in the above post is absolutely correct. When you feed an all natural diet their body uses almost all of it. This goes to futher prove that kibble is just a mixture of a bunch of junk that is not good for the dog.
thx for the replies guys.. I will try to find the mackrel. I have seen pacific pink salmon i think.. Whats the stuff with certain types of fish you shouldnt feed.. Like a geographical thing. Could you clarify that for me? thx..
