I have to agree w/Patricia about the alarm, and Janice about the Pit Bull. Guard dog? Pit Bull? Nope. And, they are not good outside dogs. Not only are they too people-oriented, but they're not all-weather coated dogs, like a GSD w/a double coat.

What do you mean by a guard dog? Do you plan to keep your dog outside 24/7 with a little interaction with your family? Why do you want to make your dog live like that? I don't agree with people who buy dogs for guard and leave them outside all day with little interaction from their family.
My opinion, I think it is simple wrong because they are not getting enough of mental simulation and physical excerise. If you live on a farm where you have livestock animals, dogs will be happy to look after. I have no problem with that, but I don't support people who buy dogs and expect them to stay outside in the cold, rain, and heat to look after the property. Dogs are not robots.
