Well, there you go! That one looks perfect. Great find Melissa. Looks like Debbie's knots too, which btw are very cool.
I was thinking also that you could loop the leash around that type collar for walking, or slide a store bought metal ring on the leash, put the clasp end of the leash through the collar and clasp to the ring on the leash - make sense? That way the ring never touches the collar.

The only thing is they tell you NOT to use a leash with the Knot-a-Collar. They suggest another product if you need a leash.
Debbie's knots are very cool...and I will need a little more coffee before I can figure out just how she did that!

You guys are awesome. Thanks. I thought we were all set, and I put a nylon flat collar on her and did the nail polish thing (which I always do on the backs of jeans buttons cuz I have the same damn thing w/cheap metal) and all was well...except that now she has a 1.5" red strip around her neck. I'm thinkin' at this point it's an allergy to anything synthetic. I'm going to go the hemp route, even if I have to make it myself, or have a leather one custom made for her. I really think this is a somewhat delayed vaccine reaction...b/c I sure don't know what else it could be. I took some pics to gross you all out, but forgot my USB cable, so those'll have to wait. Poor poor puppy. She looks abused, or like she has leprosy. Thanks again.

Thanks, Shody, but the problem is in the metal, first and foremost, and then the nylon. All of those pictured have metal hardware. I'm going to try brass if I can't find any metal-free ones. Debbie Bruce (Thanks!)offered to have the Amish leather shop near here make me some different designs to try out, and I'm definitely going to do that. Here's her poor neck after only 7 hours wearing a nylon martingale w/metal hardware: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d33/Jenwilliams918/mackinac-mia10-7-07079.jpg
I think that it's so spread out b/c she was lying on it in different positions all day. She's not nearly this bad when I just use a collar for walks and take it off after.

That's what I thought, but typical PB...happy as can be and doesn't seem to be bothered by it AT ALL. Putting ointment on it w/gauze wrap during the day, and an antihistamine. Actually, that pic is from last night, and she hasn't worn a collar in days. You should've seen it before.

Jenni,
Does it smell? As you know allergies play havoc with the immune system and it is possible this has turned into a bacterial infection. Normal amounts of bacteria live on skin, allergic reaction compromises the immune system, bacteria multiply....you then have a nice combination of bacterial infection secondary to contact dermatitis. It is a good sign that you are seeing improvement but as an extra cautinary step not only keep your eye on it, keep your nose on it too POOR MIA!!

Oh, Lord, Sheila, when I took the collar off, the smell almost made me sick. It doesn't stink anymore though. It's clearing up pretty well, considering how wide and deep the lesions had gotten so quickly. You'd think I left it on her for 7 mos, not 7 hours. I tried to put a sock on her back foot so she wouldn't tear it open again scratching, but that lasted about 4.5 seconds. She's not itching it on purpose, but the occasional general scratch tears it open if it's not covered. She certainly is sensitive, that's for sure. We've had a huge fly problem this year, and she's only gotten 2 bites, but they end up as huge, swollen bumps that lose hair and take days to go down. I think it's compounding this problem, b/c she's always been sensitive to metal, but nowhere near this severe. Triple antibiotic ointment is doing wonders on both; there's definitely an infection component.
