People will disagree...that's a given...but at least here you are not chased from thread to thread and bashed (unless, of course, you're handing out a lot of bad advice).
Yes, but I would rather have an chance to debate someone rather than have a thread locked and squelch all discussion.
Notice the first thing everyone does here is assume I have done something bad and then try to attack me and get the thread locked. Should we lock it? Can we do this? What would they say about this?
Wake up! These freakin dogs are going to DIE if someone doesn't rescue them. Does anyone care about that? Well, the thread gets locked, and since the rescue part is on the bottom of the page, my thread is quickly brushed aside and forgotten. That's why I am not a fan of over moderating.

My own opinion about "over-moderating" is this:
I know VERY few training forums that both stay on topic and don't allow personal threats, etc., from anonymous posters. In fact, I know two. That's it.
And the moderating is a huge part of that.
I too have been irritated by heavy-handed (I thought, because it was my post.... ) moderating.
But the near-unique result, which is a well-run board where someone who needs info can find it without wading through a pile of personal flame-wars and "litters for sale" posts, is worth it. JMO.
But Rick, I understand 100% how you feel about that post. Good for you for wanting to help, and good for Ed for having that section of the board.
One thing I'd like to know about the stars is how do you change a rating you have given to someone that in the future proves to then deserve a better or worse one? I mean for the most part we all seem to be here to learn and draw from the valuable knowledge that one another hold, so as we all grow as trainers is there a way to change an old rating that a person may no longer compare fairly to?

How diligent is everyone on rating? I can try and be better about doing the rating thing I just only found out recently what they stars were for also. I never do any rating and just wondering if I am the only one.

I had never done it until today. I think I tend to be optimistic though. I can see myself only rating positively, I tend to do that on another forum, never negatively, I like to give encouragement!
