I am going to let Bella sleep in the tent with us, no crate. I will have a big sleeping bag to open up and lay over all of us, and I think that plus the body heat will keep us warm.
I will ask the other person to keep his dogs seperate from mine, and on leash or tied off. We have had a dog fight in the past at this event because of three dogs roaming free at the same campsite. Different dogs, but still, we all know that what caused that situation could happen with any set of dogs.
I know you all talk about the dogs running loose at campsites as abhorent, but in Kansas that is almost the norm. Now that I am older I look back and wonder, why? I know this guy, though, and I am sure he won't have a problem with that. Besides, if he wants to let the dogs run, he can always take them somewhere nearby, to do that.
If anyone has any other tips for camping with dogs, this would be a good place to put them. I did a search for camping, and didn't find anything like a camping with dogs tip thread; I was surprised! Thanks again!
I would also let the dog sleep in the tent. It won't take up much room! Also, you mentioned that you were worried about the dog getting cold. You will be much colder than the dog! Remember it has fur to protect it! And if you let the dog sleep with you, you will all be warm any way : - }}}}}}} Also, I don't know where you live, but here in Michigan we have a leash law! Your dog MUST be on leash while walking etc. or you could be fined if stopped. Have fun on the trip.
