The thing I found most useful about the http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com site was learning how to read labels. While I appreciate their efforts to rate foods, the list seemed incomplete.
I appreciate good tools/info to read the labels myself and do my OWN ratings.

We all want the best possible for our Dogs, So if your Dogs are Looking Fit and well on the Food they are given and you the owner is happy with there condition, i see no reason to change there diet at all, Most, or i should say a big percentage of the readers on this forum feed Raw and i sumise most live in the USA.
So i guess again the Raw Products are easier and cheaper to come by over in the USA than say over here in Belgium and England, Plus you have the Chance of Frozen or Dried Meat, something else i have looked for over here and failed to find But i guess the Price of this would be beyond my Pocket if i did
Over here in Belgium, and I have been on to a lot of people in England over the last few months, i have found only two people in England i have contacted feed Raw to there Dogs, over here in Belgium i have not found one
When asked the reason why they do not feed Raw, a lot over here talk about contamination and Salmonella, of which i try to explain that is not so much the problem but the getting the Products we need.
England is the same, the avaliablitiy of getting the Raw at a reasonable price stops most from trying it
For me, I would prefer to go Raw, but it is not feasable in my case so i feed what i consider to be the best Kibble with Supplements of Salmon Oil and Vit E

I sent them an email asking why Evo is not and Orijen large breed puppy is recommended. If I get an answer, I'll post it here.
Thanks, Elaine. Interesting question!

Because I think so highly of Mary Strauss and because her research is always based on authoritative sources, I'm including her opinion of low-protein diets vs. restricted food, period, for giant breed puppies.
http://www.dogaware.com/dogfeeding.html#Puppies
Again, I'm not a puppy expert. But Mary Strauss expresses here the only viewpoint I have read that makes sense to me about feeding growing giant breeds. She's not alone in her opinion.
I'd read it and get "the other side" before deciding on a food.

Hello Connie
I read the thread you put in your above mail it is very interesting indeed,
I am pleased that Orijen is included in the survey and with good results.
Just for interest the Tribune who tested out the ingredients, of the huge amount of Dry Dog Kibbles they went through, said they did not know if Orijen contained Ethoxyquin
I Contacted Champion Pet Foods and asked them if there Orijen Kibble contained Ethoxyquins, The answer was No' it did not, it was then that i purchased the food

I first found this site on a Boxer dog site, then posted it a few times to help members here. I really like the info available & it helped me decide to feed my dog Canidae when she was on kibble. I have converted most people I know to feeding their dogs Canidae...
Hey Steve, how's your puppy doing? I haven't been on here lately.

Hi Alex
4 month old Goran is coming on fine, he now weighs in at just under 11 kg, when we bought him home he was 6.6kg
Not a big Pup but is very intelliegent, He is Mad about his Obly Ball, and sits and downs right away on command, did not have to teach him really he just seemed to do it on his own but he knows the words now
One thing is sure i will not make the same mistakes i made with 11 month old pup Fred
With him we were advised wrongly of what to do as a puppy, But he has overcome his backward owners mistakes and progressed, except for one issue which we are working on with the Trainer, who is at the moment in Canada doing some Judging work, he will be back this coming weekend.
Last night Fred went on the Sleeve at the Club and the fellow who was on the sleeve was very impressed with his bite more so because of his young age, so were the onlookers,
We will get it right in the end of that i am determined to do, On wednesday night i looked at the leerburg DVD 8 weeks to 8 months, will look again tonight i want to make no mistakes with the baby Pup Goran
Sorry to go off the thread

Yes, Mary Strauss is the nutrition writer for Whole Dog Journal. WDJ basically recommends the same diet that Leerburg feeds. They do in-depth articles on how to do a home-cooked diet properly, and how to choose the best among the commercials canned and kibble foods, but their focus is the raw diet. (They also consider THK to be next best.)
And back to the thread......
