this just made me laugh, i used to worry i was emasculating luc b/c he pees in the stretch position (except after i tore my ankle ligaments, i let him sniff stuff on walks, and he started leg lifting. when i got better and he wasn't allowed to sniff anymore, he went back to stretching).
....i don't worry anymore. since i got teagan, he's peed a couple of times in a full squat. the first time, he looked up at me, grinning, with a 'HA! did you just see what I did?' and i was like 'dude, you just peed like girl' he's still my big man though (i got him a manly collar so people stop thinking he's a girl! it's thick black leather w/skulls and crossbones....heh)
We could call this thread "Alternative Methods in Canine Urination Techniques." That sounds much more appropriate for the general dog conversation board, dontcha think?
Depends on the dog, yes. Another thing to think about is that whether male or female the dominant dog is the one that lifts it's leg to urinate. Lifting the leg is a sign of dominance to other dogs. This depends on the dogs, also, and is most commonly observed in wolves and wild canids, but I have seen it take effect when you get more than one dog together.
