I'm just wondering what kind of behavior problems this puppy could possibly have besides regular puppy issues? How old is this pup? Why did YOU give him up? Did I miss something here? Now you have a new pup? I'm confused....
To robbin. I had originally had bear on a bottle cause mom rejected him. Then mom would not feed jewel but she was already 5 1/2 weeks the people that had these pups are no good so I took jewel because they could not sell her. And were going to put her out on the streets. The other 2 pups of the litter died. Well then I got on the forum. And stared asking questions so I ended up giving bear to a x friend now. But she brought him back and left him on my door step while I was at work today.
He is biting to be mean it is not the same and he cowers a lot. And does not like anyone not even me and I bottled him for 3 weeks. He is not the same pup as 1 week ago something happened to him. To give some people and idea thats him 2 weeks ago in the pic on my sign. I have a vet appointment tomorrow I think something is also wrong with his left right leg. and a date to meet the family and yes I am in the process of printing now. Hopefully should I make a contract of some sort.
Dear Stephanie: Boy I can see you have your hands full. I am not a professional trainer but it seems something did happen to your little bear. Why not wait for a while before you give him to a new home and give him a chance to relax and get back on track. He is little and has had a bad experience, and then has been brought back to your house, and now may go to another home, that sounds very confusing for a little guy who has just experienced some kind of trauma. Perhaps the police officer will wait for a short time. In the mean time, maybe (if he has children) you can observe his childrens interaction with bear, (invite them over to your house to get to know bear and you them). Used as an undercover dog in pit rings. Hmmmm. What is the little guys temperment? Is this where he needs to be? or is there some other area he was meant to excel in? Little puppies are like hidden treasures to me, it takes time for thier true characters to emerge and be refined.
I hope everything works out well for you and for your little guy.
Please let me know what happened at the vet.
May God bless you
Sharon Empson
I hope your vet visit goes well and there is nothing seriously wrong with his leg.

Are you dog-savvy enough to deal with this? Again, I am trying hard to be rational about this, but although I know you have asked and learned a lot here, are you able to work on turning this puppy around? Cowering and biting -- not good. The poor little guy. What is it that you see wrong with his leg? Is he limping or favoring it?
He is very mean to Jewel. And does cower even if I am on the floor with him. The vet took x-ray and did a physical. She said it is a real bad bruise and ask me how it happened. I told her and she ask for the lady's info. She gave me pain medical for him and said to just be normal he will heal. Davids family came over today and very happy to see him make the kids sit down to hold him. And they brought a kennel for me to approve and he will be feed raw surprised to see that. They gave me a vet number that they use and the name so on and so forth. They bought him a collar and two or three different leashes. We all talked and decided for them to take him for the weekend next week. But I gave them the information and they started reading it there and I will order them the 3 DVDS That I am getting. I want to see how they interact for a week they will be over everyday after I and David get off. Hopefully this works out.
Sorry one more add to Sharon's post. He will also be a police dog in other areas. And they will get him in pulling. He will be well rounded if he goes with them. But I am trying to make sure this is right for him.

Raw feeders who accepted LB info ... all promising.
Please keep him separated from the other dog(s). Sounds like he was abused, but there is no benefit in allowing your other dogs to be terrorized.... they need you to protect them.
I have a quesion re: potential new owner, David. Has he worked w/dogs in police work before? Or his Bear going to be the first dog he's used/trained for this? If he has no experience, I would hesitate to give him to David to be used for this type of work. I'm no expert, but this concerns me. If he has experience and knows what he's doing, he may be the perfect new owner.
He has done this for a long time. The last dog he had was a pit. And he did not want to pick just anything dog for want reason I don't know. I think he has to be careful on where he gets the dog. The only reason I know anything is my mother has been friends with him for a long time. I really don't remember him but I have known him sense I was little. Another person came bye but as soon as he walked through the door he yelled at my older dog. I told him get out your not getting this pup. He is doing good tonight my husband came home he remembered him and started playing with him. My husband travels for work not home to often.
