Aw, I loved hearing that first crunch into the bone, I didn't think she would figure that one out. But then again I'm a girl who grew up slapping fish on the head with a little bat after catching them, cutting and gutting fish, killing the live mice my cats would bring home.
Great, now I sound like prospect serial killer. x_x
My pup won't be completely switched for a while, fixing up our home, we just got an apartment( which'll allow her! ), and my boyfriend has allergies. He's gonna be on meds soon, so in the meantime, my pup gets homemade food from my dad. She's very spoiled over there..
Gives me time to nab some supplements and stock up the freezer.

I've given Bayley pig tails, she doesn't seem to be very fond of the skin. She likes her pork neck bones though. Chicken and turkey necks are popular too.

Something I did notice while I was feeding her.
She was trying to bring them into the living room, I'd say "Ahh.", and she'd drop the wing, standing still in the spot she stopped at and look at me, like she'd done something wrong. I only wanted her to not go into the living room with raw chicken. x:
I'd have to hand it back to her because she wouldn't take it back herself, and then she'd eat it fine. This happened a few times.

Studying is good...even if it is dog doo. My three year old daughter has watched me and my wife, and now has plenty of fun getting a stick and taking apart our dog's poop. My parents think we are ruining their innocent granddaughter. Ha!
It's deer season, and my GSD got his first meaty deer bone yesterday. I thought his tail was going to wag off. You can bet we'll be out in the yard looking for interesting nuggets.
It's not just what you say, it's how you say it. |

Hello! I've been feeding my GSD RMB for weeks. A previous digestive issue was discussed with Connie regarding stomach noise post RMB consumption. Now I have a new question. I hope this is an appropriate thread, but as a fairly new user, mea culpa if I'm off topic.
Our dog gets two daily feedings. the evening meal is exclusively raw chicken: backs, thighs, wings, leg quarters. this has been the pattern for weeks, but lately he's been experiencing rather explosive diarrhea approximately 4 to 6 hours post consumption of dinner. (no bowel issues with morning meals)
my understanding is that the food takes about this long to travel the digestive tract, so we are assuming this diarrhea is related to the evening meal. looking at the possible causes; we have eliminated anything not within the general pattern of his day, reviewed what he chews, picks up off the street, plays with at home, etc. We've come up against a brick wall.
The standard proceedure is to buy the chicken, bag it, freeze it until 24 hours before mealtime, thaw in refrigerator, place in clean bowl and immediately feed dog. no possible contamination of food from market to dog. we buy at a regional chain, not the highest quality chicken, but definately sold for human consumption.
again, this has been a very recent event.
the dog has high drive for all his meals, no lethargy during the day or evenings. Only symptoms of trouble are just the runny, poorly formed poop in the middle of the night. all other movements are well formed, and reasonably dry. so again the assumption is the dinner.
anyone have suggestions as to the cause of this issue?

what do you feed in the mornings? no chicken at all? maybe your dog doesn't do well on chicken? i know sometimes if i eat a lot of the same thing i don't digest optimally, but i sort of thought with dogs it would be normal for them to eat a lot of one meat source in one sitting.
how does your dog do on other RMB sources? beef, pork, fish, game?

he's still young so the ability to chew and smash bone is limited. we tried turkey, but it was too dense.
no fish, he hates it. beef: only ground. pork and game, only in prepared patties early in the raw diet.
anyway mornings are groud meat, or chicken, yogurt, egg, supplements, vegetables. there's been no poop issues with the morning as far as we can tell.
thanks for getting me back on track. i typed the same message to Connie earlier.
