Emergency vet There open when regular vets are not down here. Yes blood work and fecal. All negative. what I meant was the vet told me many vets in the same area Houston, Seabrook, Livingston, baytown all over have had the same symptoms and giving the same things it seems to work. So it is something causing it kinda like a 24 hour bug going around a school. But she is so young it took a major tole on her. My older dog got it but I did not even know she had it tell she was getting over it.

Stephanie, sorry to hear that your pup is so sick. In addition to the recommendations above, she might be willing to lap up some plain yogurt. (this will help her replenish the good bacteria that is killed off by the antibiotic, and will help a little with keeping her hydrated)

Enter a question from me.....I always thought you wanted to give plain live cultured yogurt after the antibiotics were finished....is this correct or can you give it during the course of meds as well?
Thanks

Stephanie--I'm sorry! I thought "e-vet" was like "e-mail" or and "e-friend"! DUR! I didn't even think of emergency vet! Oops!
Carol, I always have the yogurt during the course of the meds, not just after. This is what my pediatrician has always told me to do with my son with antibioitics, especially long-term antibiotics so I just sort of crossed advice to another species on this one. I figured it made sense, and it wouldn't hurt.

Cool, that is all I needed to know. I need to go over all of my notes that I have put together. I need a bit of a refresher....
Thank you.

During too, unless it's Doxycillin, and then you need to double check, because some brands of Doxycillin cannot have dairy fed with them.

Did I forget the disclaimer? I admit, I never did talk to a vet about this, but when Carbs had 7 staples in his leg from a puncture wound and was on antibiotics for awhile, I did give him the yogurt and his digestive tract was operating perfectly. My info is solely "hands-on" and honestly probably not worth much!
Still, how could yogurt possibly hurt unless it messed with the effect of the antibiotics? And human and canine antibiotics are often very similar. However, I should say just for the sake of clarity that there are some human antibiotics that shouldn't be used with any dairy product, so perhaps that's true for dogs as well. Still, I would imagine that would be listed on the bottle, if so.

A big fat ditto from me, too.... as long as it isn't a no-dairy med.
And of course, it's crucial that it be plain (no sugar; no fruit), and you want natural, live, active-culture yogurt.

Enteritis is the term used to describe an inflammation or infection of the small intestine. It can be caused by bacteria or by a virus or something else. *It doesnt imply a cause*. A cause is not implied by the diagnosis of colitis, either, which describes an inflammation of the colon. The cause may be general stress, bacteria, parasites, or some unknown cause. Have they done any fecal or blood tests to determine the CAUSE yet? I ask because if it's something that's environmental---could be a number of things---you should know so you can eliminate this exposure, if possible.
You said "some virus" is going around in Texas. What virus, and have they tested for it? This is important, IMO.
I agree 100% with all of this.
You will want to ask these questions.

Thank y'all so much went to store and got yogurt. Plain yogurt. She will get some tomorrow letting her tummy rest tonight. She is more active tonight after she got her shot at the vet she perked up really fast. Nothing like normal but major improvement to yesterday. I think she is on the up and up but it will take a while. i know the vet told me not to let her around any other animals for 2 weeks tell her immune system can get back to normal. Both pups on Quarantine for a while so neither give the other something or get anything. So I will do everything everyone tells me.
Thank you so much everyone any more advice would help.
And also I will can vet tomorrow not going to work to watch her for the day.
