Does it really matter if it's a working dog or pet? Speaking out of ignorance here. lol.
Well if the dog was for work (not just from work lines, but actually going to do work) I'd tell you not to worry about it and let the pup be a brat. Since the dog isn't going to be working I'll let someone else answer
Make sure the dog is playing and not trying to tell you something. My dog used to bite me when he was a pup because he had to get out, now if it happens (not much anymore) he'll look at me and start barking to go out. If this is not the case I would give the dog a correction, make sure the dog knows your the pack leader, still a little young though.
