I'm even more amazed after learning that! Poo Luc - I can't imagine what 3 yrs in a shelter would do to a dog. I'm so happy for him that you saved him. You should be very proud - this breakthrough happened b/c of YOU!

Poor Luc nothin'. He's got a great life. It just goes to show that cesar is right about dogs living "in the now". If a good, strong pack leader can work with a dog and not get caught lamenting that dogs past, there's really very little limit to the amount of recovery that dog can experience.

You got that right! My most recent adoptee was chained outside all his life (he's probably 8 or 9 now). I got him last summer, and by this summer he was play-bowing with the other dogs in the house.
i do feel bad for luc's start in life - blech - a reason not to have no kill shelters IMO (the place he was in had a couple of hundred dogs, no wonder he never got adopted). but i guess i've also seen it as - it's all the more reason why he should be with me, running, hiking, and backpacking, and being not cooped up inside. i think he's got a lot of positive now (if i do say so myself).
but he has learned to be a happy dog - he's certainly one of the happier souls i've ever met....he's even a bit of a brat on occasion (in the best of possible ways of course ).
but for him to play with teagan - i'm still floored, but absolutely thrilled! i never expected it.
(which i guess also goes to show why you shouldn't limit your dogs....luc has quite a talent for exceeding my expectations, he's a soft dog, but in many ways mentally tough for all of that)
connie - you must be thrilled as well. that's so nice to see
