Ben, I just posted on another thread that my pup got her first raw meal last night! Fun, isn't it!
I also feed Canidae, and for now, until I get through the bag, I am feeding 1 1/4 cup in the a.m., and raw in the P.M.
She weighs almost 50 lbs and is still growing (6 months old)
She got 1 back and 3 necks, a little yogurt and salmon oil and seemed to be not starving when she finished.
You can always adjust as you go along, but I believe you want to target about 2% of your goal weight, per day.
Man, you all are so lucky with your back sources!! For some reason, here in Wichita the only place I could find that could order them had them at something like .50/lb! I can get leg quarters for less than that! I couldn't believe it...So, like Connie said, you are already past the hard part when you have found your source of cheap RMBs! Good luck, and please keep asking questions because we are here for you!!
Well, at Wally world they have leg quarters for .47/lb. Also, now that I think about it, I can't remember if the price was for backs or necks...but I am pretty sure it was backs...I thought I heard of people getting down to about .25/lb for this stuff. Maybe I am wrong.

What would be a good source of vitamin E? Would you just use gel caps or is there another way?
There are good sources for humans, but the Vitamin-E-rich foods are not really dog-appropriate.
Then why do they need it, huh??
Because they evolved getting both Omega 3s and Vitamin E from the meat, fat, and gut of grass-fed prey.
Now they eat meat with neither. Just like humans do.
So the fish oil is needed for the long-chain Omega 3s and the Vitamin E gelcaps are needed because the dog's system uses Vitamin E in processing the oil supplement.
