Thanks everyone for your reply. I'm not concerned about her size, just found her small. Her size will be *much* easier to rent with should I need to find a new rental house where the landlord isn't so nice!
I love my "midget" (one of her many nicknames)...Kira is a mix of Czech/DDR lines. She is 24" and weighs 63 lbs. It is great...she packs a punch with attitude though. My other female is 70 lb and 27" tall...she is very leggy and if I had my choice, I'd prefer a smaller sized GSD.
A very good thing to do if you want to favorably impress
a potential landlord, IMO. :>
Actually, a good thing, period, IMHO.
Some insurance companies also give you a discount if your dog has a CGC certificate.
Worth looking into.
And Art....."Then again, it is fun to see a big GSD take helpers down on the escape and courage test!"
Not from the helper's standpoint....dragging your huge hound while it's on the sleeve is like being attached to a boat anchor.
Plus his dog is hard to "put into the pocket" for driving it since he's so long.
That's one big piece o'dog that you have there, Art!
Handsome dog though!
WHAT?????? That tiny lil fluffball of his is giving you a hard time, Will? That lil thing was a 15lb lap dog last time I saw him! Taking down helpers, psshhh, i'll believe THAT when I see it!
True about the CGC. I'm an evaluator so getting my landlord to agree to my little puppy was no problem because she'd eventually get her CGC. She has it now, had her tested at 4 months. My insurance company ignored the fact I had a GSD because she had a CGC when I applied for renter's insurance.
Angelique my friend, let me help you a little bit on this one though. They were bred to do it ALL!
Stephanitz Quote:
"There is no doubt that the genuine and most noble vocation for the shepherd dog is tending flocks......"
Of course, we use them today for a lot more than herding.
That was my point exactly ,that is why I placed the link on the breed, sometimes I hear people categorize the GSD as a "Herding" dog and to me and researching the breed , it's a dog that can do so much more.I was not pointing the fingers, I was simply did not word it right....
