So where can I find these "whole prey" I have no idea where I might find rabbit or anything else besides the grocery store. I have only been able to get the chicken or turkey where they have already removed the real gems from inside.
I order my rabbits from there and also the duck meat and so on.. I don't order my tripe there here is where I get my tripe : http://www.greentripe.com/
I'm anal and weigh everything. I feed my RMB's in the a.m. and muscle/organ/veggies in the pm. I want to be like you when I grow up and do the whole prey model thing. I'm afraid I'd screw it all up if I tried.
How long have you been raw feeding? I've only been doing it a year. My dog is still alive though. .....Hey, thats better than AAFCO standards, right?
I know diddley about feeding a raw diet, except that it is easy to overthink. You're way of doing it sounds great to me. I'm on the other end of the spectrum which is fine too.
I've also been feeding raw for a year. I think I'll always weigh my food - I could never "not separate". I know all of you at the other end of the spectrum think that's crazy but some of us need lists and written instructions. You should see my timleine spreadsheet on Thanksgiving day!
thanks Angelique I could talk about her all day long; lets just say she is a true shepherd
I didnt think to look online for raw, but now I know, thanks!

I'll bet you $50 right now that you will not be weighing ingredients in another year.
I did that, too. You can imagine how it was before the internet, going from book to book (there were about two) and reading the nutrition sections of vet manuals (which were largely kibble-speak)...... Heck, it took me a year to switch from home-cooked to raw!
I always suggest that a new raw feeder replicate the photos of a well-designed diet, like the Leerburg pages of actual menus, until they have a "feel" for what a balanced diet looks like.
I also think that picturing the whole prey and getting as close to it as you can is a great method. You don't have to feed a whole fowl in one day, but if the bird or rabbit or whatever and its organs and either some green tripe or a little processed produce are fed over time, then GOOD JOB. The only crucial addition (IMO) is the Omega 3s from marine sources plus the extra E used in processing the fish oil.

Not crazy. Hey, if it feels good do it.
I agree: Not crazy. If it makes the process comfortable, then good!
