Michele, don't feel stupid, most people don't know the difference, even some people on this forum who think they know everything wouldn't be able to tell you a thing about lines and pedigrees
Showline pedigrees usually are filled with pictures just like this one, where all the dogs look exactly the same, with the black saddle and "banana back" or "roach back"...:

no kidding! i'm still amazed myself how people find new ways to sell the same old snake oil, be it dogs, cars, or 'cures' for the world.
