That is so terrible. I am soooo sorry. It's hard not to blame ourselves. I have a dog right now that is sick because he has a piece of bone stuck in his stomach. I believe it is from a bone toy I gave him. We always make the best choices we can for our dogs. As someone else said, dogs can choke on many things, rawhides, greenies, even kibble.
You loved and took care of this dog. She will be waiting for you at the rainbow bridge.

Stephanie, I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a loved pet is so very hard....
Know that this was NOT your fault. Choking is an unforseen ACCIDENT. It can happen any time, with anything. Even Oprah lost a dog to choking on a toy. You made good choices for your dogs, and took excellent care of them.
Take comfort in the fact that she KNEW she was loved.
The b-day went well
A lot of people were sad but we made it
Phoenix is ok right now but she got a lot of new toys right now.
Should i expect changes or looking for Jewel
She did last night real late
She is at the park with my husband and some friends right now
I am suposed to be taking a nap but can't sleep
Oh Stephanie, I'm so sorry this happened to Jewel. I know you're broken hearted. She was a good pup.
You asked if you should expect any changes in Phoenix. I would expect some changes, maybe some sadness, perhaps depression. He probably will be looking for her.
I'm so sorry for you all - this is a very hard thing to go through.
Stephanie, I'm so sorry for your loss as well... it's never easy - especially when the end comes so unexpectedly.
I'm guessing Phoenix will definitely need to deal with this in her own way, just like you do. She may look for Jewel, or be sullen and sad for a bit, but life goes on, and dog's are remarkably good at not lingering in the past. Stay strong...

Yes, and I believe that one of the crucial needs of a dog when there is a change (like this sad loss) in the pack is assurance that this dog's position remains unchanged, that the pack leader remains in control, and that the pack is secure.
So more than ever, calm pack leadership will reassure and enhance the security of the dogs in the house.
