Meat-this is whole chicken/beef/pork with its water content(about 80%) The water is of course lost during the cooking of kibble
By Products-The non-rendered, clean parts, other than meat, derived from slaughtered mammals. It includes, but is not limited to, lungs, spleen, kidneys, brain, livers, blood, bone, partially defatted low temperature fatty tissue, and stomachs and intestines freed of their contents. It does not include hair, horns, teeth and hoofs. It shall be suitable for use in animal food. If it bears name descriptive of its kind, it must correspond thereto.
Meal-Meat and bone meal is prepared from the wastes materials associated with slaughtering operations (carcass trimmings, condemned carcasses, condemned livers, inedible offal (lungs) and bones) and also from the rendering of dead animals.
Not sure of the price, but I could still run it by my mom. I feed my dogs raw when I have money to spend. They have a whole pack of raw chicken thighs in the freezer that I give on occassion. Both love it!

Emily,
Chicken Soup would be a great choice. I used that for a dog that stayed here and also tried it with some of my dogs way back when I fed kibble and they did well on it.
I think it is actually cheaper that IAMS.

Of brands that I'll give strong consideration to Chicken soup isn't bad.
The new one I'm going to give a test to soon is the new improved Spot stew. It is expensive but it did bring a smile to my face to see a decent ingredient list.
We also are waiting on the new dog whisperer food brand. I'm kind of curious to see what they came up with.

petsmart and petco have nothing i consider healthy,if you have a feed store around some carry decent brands, just read labels carefully and maybe mail order could be an option, some ship free over 50 bucks

Sue, I'm not sure what's in the canned but the new dry stuff had a decent ingredient list. It also had a better protein level than most with the exception of Blue Wilderness. BTW even the canned spot stew isn't the same anymore. They rebranded/relaunched with Ellen as their spokes person. Our theory at work is she's going the same route as Nature's Balance.
