Dear Karla: I agree with what the others have posted. I got a little jack russel mix and he started to do the same thing to my other terrior Bindi. I put a stop to it. First thing I did was to keep him on a leash, if he even looked like he was challenging Bindi, I would correct him. Then as he got better and I was able to take him off the leash, if he started to challenge Bindi (thinking the leash was off so I am free now) I would use a squirt bottle of water and squirt him with it( this was before I had a e collar) and would say enough. Then he would get put back on the leash for awhile. We are having no problem like that, and now can identify the behavior before it begins and stop it. Things have smoothed out nicely. Now with the ecollar I no longer use a squirt bottle, and have not had to correct him for that in a long time now. We were close to returning him to the rescue organization we got him from. We found that he gets worked up easily, since he is in high drive most of the time. He is now turning out to be a wonderful little dog and is smart as a whip. I wonder, does your yorkie have something to do? Does it get much exercise? Is it trained?
I agree, get the pack structure ground work and put it into practice, you will see good results.
God bless you Sharon
Thank you Sharon.
No, the yorkie doesn't have much to do and my daughter doesn't excercise him enough. He isn't trained either. She is 19 and this is her little dog.
I am going to get the DVD's and have her start working on this.
Thanks for the help...she may end up needing to do the E-collar training, we will see.

Exercise plus short upbeat motivational training sessions are both going to drain some of his terrier energy.
And I agree that he needs to be on a light drag line and needs NOT to be allowed to attack the big dog (or any dog). That's just an absolute no in my house, and my dogs know it.
