Socialising, wearing a collar, walking on leash, drive encourgment, bite games, hide and seek (search) games, and the basic commands, sit, down, speak, quiet, come. I would also start to condition words with actions, so later on it will be easier to teach more advanced actions with that word.
Example "Search" or whatever language your going to use, start in the house with treats, hide them and command "search" point to the ground to let him know he is scent searching for food, he will search, then later you can add in footprint tracking but he will already know what search means and what he will be doing, he will just be learning a new way of doing it. Games revolving around training later. This will give you a great head start on imprinting for Sch work. Thank you very much. I'm taking notes on everything I'm being told and I really appreciate all of the help you are all being

Ed has a couple of good puppy tapes. One is on bite training puppies and the other is on raising a puppy 8 weeks to 8 months. You can't go wrong with this info.(Actually he has more than 2 good puppy tapes but these 2 come to mind)

The bud man,
Welcome to the board.
In some cases, its better to send someone a private message to ask the type of question you asked. No big deal though. Enjoy the board and if you need any help feel free to send me a private message.

Unless you like pee and poop, I would say that house training would be your first goal.
Crate training will also be a biggie. (the two go hand in hand) I'm guessing that living with a high line Malinois will be an experience, one that will go a bit better if you crate train the dog.

Start correcting for breaking the house rules from the first minute through the door. Establish the rules and don't back down or sluff 'em off. I don't think a little scruff shakin' will kill the drive.

Crate training is pretty easy for me. I've never had a problem crate training any dog I've ever owned including puppies.

The best way to seriously correct a pup is to pick him up by the scruff of the neck and shake him till he screams. It is next to the same thing his mom would do to him for a similar infraction.
Dog nibbles on you, your rules are no mouthing, you pick him up saying a calm but firm NO and shake him till he yelps a little. Then you put him down, re-direct his mouth to a prey item and praise lavishly when he nibbles on that. Basically. . .

You should never hit, swat, spank, or raise your hand to your dog. Not a good idea for a working dog. Just my opinion. . .

Ok great, do you have any specific questions? More specific than what you have already asked? I don't want to keep telling you stuff you already know.

Not that I'm an expert or anything, I just like to think I am. . .
