IMO it would depend on the type veggies.
Wolves and foxes feed on fruits, berries, and veggies in the wild. Not very different from bears.
Depending on your world view you might believe everything ate plants at one time.

I for one does not entirley agree with those you say not to feed a veggie diet
What happens then if a Dog is allergic to meat protein as in the case of the one Mellissa mentioned, with the ladies Dog
Of course if the Dog is not allergic to Meat then of course it should be fed that or a certain amount of meat in its diet
But tell me what happens if the Dog cannot be fed even a meat kibble let alone Raw how then do you feed it

Hi Mellisa
I will answer my own Question, thought of it as soon as i switched off.
Why not ask the Lady to try the Dog on Fish Proteins
may just work, what do others think of it
Steve, if my dog had an allergy to a meat, I would be looking for a different kind of meat before I switched to veggies.
If the dog was allergic to ALL meats (by that I mean, trying deer, buffalo, rabbit, ostrich first) then I think that would a very, very, very rare exception.
And I doubt that the all-veggie diet, even if they could survive on it, would make them as vital as they would be if they could process meat.

Amber,
Yes, i fully agree about the whole Veggie diet but i think this is an on going thing with this Pup for a while and i would expect he has tried other meats, or would have done had it been my pup
Below my post you are refering to i put another underneath saying why not try a Fish based protein diet, possibly it may work
Or for another, why not try a hypo allenginc diet

Yes, I missed that. I would certainly try fish too.
They tried many things. In fact for years they thought it was due to grains and starches. But she can NOT tolerate any sort of animal protein. She is on Natural Balance Vegetarian. I'm sure they wish she could be on another food, but she is stable on this one and after years of issues they do not want to rock the boat.
Like I said before, all her other dogs are fed raw.
