My old giant schnauzer ate a 2 pound bag of beef jerky and polished off a guinness while I was in the shower one night.
Other than drinking a LOT of water and dealing with the "I broke the seal" syndrome all night long, she was fine.
God I miss that dog.
We call the cat turds "kitty box crunchies" here.
One of my sister's in-laws shared a beer with his mini-schnauzer every day. As she got old she had obvious liver issues- hepatomegaly- clearly visable from above to the naked eye. Like a giant goose egg protruding just behind the ribcage...

The Dalmatian I had would sneak off with our beers if we were not watching her.....she was like an A.D.D. kid without meds if she did.....and she was already batty sober....

I can relate to that (my dog, not me!). That's all I'd need. No beer for Lear! Since dogs have a taste for some pretty icky stuff, I wonder what that says about beer - not that it would make any difference to me
Someone I know was telling me that his 3 pit bulls got into a case of beer in the garage. When he got home, every can was bitten open, and he had 3 passed out dogs on the garage floor.
My old GSD Zeus would not touch beer, but did have an affinity for dirty martini's! Vodka, not gin of course. He had taste! Once or twice a year on special occasions I'd split one with him. Man I miss that hairy old bastard.
I'll give Casey about a shot glass full of weak beer (i.e. Bud Light or similar) every so often --- once a month, max -- after a long day of hiking in the back country of Arizona.
