Carol,
Very nice pics - and it's really nice to see a dog in training for meaningful future work, thanks for taking the time to post those pics!

Thanks everyone. I REALLY appreciate the comments.
Ember is everything I could ask for in a dog, even her attitude is great and we do well together.
I am really pleased how she is coming along, and we may be slower than most, but I want to make sure that I do it right with her.
I will try and be better at posting progress.
I love the work that I do and I think it is super important to do it correctly in order to have a reliable resource to those that need us.

Remember she's ONLY 6 months old, she's doing just great! I know a lot of the Malinois we see are doing "superhuman" obedience exercises by the time they start teething but I am not convinced that asking so much of them at a young age is the best thing for the long term career of the dog. They are babies after all!
The most important skill we should all be teaching our young dogs is HOW to learn. Once you have that embedded in their brain, the sky is the limit.
We are very proud of Carol and Ember, keep up the good work.

I think the first statement is the hardest....once the little buggers light bulb comes on, it is really HARD to remember that they are just babies.....
The second comment.... Thanks you guys, that means A LOT to me. I feel that the methods and advice I have learned and gotten here has helped shape me as a better handler and to hear the you guys are pleased is a great compliment....until she attaches to Ed....eeek (j/k)

Omygosh, Ember is really growing up fast. What a beauty. Beauty AND brains, what a combo. She's *what* 1/2 year old now and you've already got her alerting on scents? Wowzie, good work!! Both of you!!

Carol, Em is impressive in those pictures! So are you, teaching scent boxes already, and her learning it! You two are going to make a great team. She obviously loves to work.
She's a beautiful gal, I can't believe she's already 6 months. Seems you just went and got her a couple of months ago!

Yeah, we have a LONG way to go...she is telling me they are there, so now it is working on each thing separately and then chain it all together later. I do not think she is going be too tough though. She loves the odor and she knows the odor means reward now, so now I need to shape it nice and slow since we cannot certify until 18 months.
Unless I have a litter with Jesea....my next dog will be another Kaiserhaus Mal, but I would really like a male this time...HINT....hint....hint.....

Carol -- I know the discipline you're training Ember in -- but could you explain the scent box training a little more for me.
She is a beautiful young dog!
