I am sooo jealous - my GSD is now 4 years old - the time goes so fast.
At least you have the benefit of this board should you encounter any problems along the way.
I would do a much better job with a puppy now than I did when I got Blue and I'm still learning.
Picked up the pup this afternoon. Named him Gage. Gage is doing very well. Very well mannered. No accidents in the house yet. Very obvious when he needs to go. Let him spend about 30 minutes in his crate. He whined for about 2 minutes and then laid down. Played with his Kong toy a bit (the breeder gave us a small one) and was being very good. Let him out and we went out side. Did his business and then back inside. Tossed the Kong 9 or 10 feet. He ran and got it, brought it back and dropped it in my hand. We did this 40 or 50 times and he ALWAYS brought it back and ALWAYS dropped it in my hand. Lots of love and praise. I was totally pleased. Put him back in the crate for about an hour. No noise or whining at all. As soon as I let him out he walked straight to the door. Out we went and he did his business. This is too easy. Very pleased so far.

This is off topic from chew toys, but you shouldn't expect your pup to retrieve 45-50 times. That will only set you up for failure. With a pups attention span, it's to easy for him to get distracted and refuse a retrieve. Keep all training sessions short and finish on a positive note.It sound like your breeder got the pup off on a good start with the house training. Have fun and keep it short.
