I've often thought of teaching one or more of the dogs to 'herd' those &$#%^@!! geese back into the lake. They would also be useful in encouraging dawdling foursomes.
A few years back, an ACD from one of the neighboring homes decided to help the golfers. He'd run out, get the ball & bring it back to the tee box. Most of us just grinned, called him a course-hazard and then took the drop from where the ball had landed. Unfortunately, he developed a habit of standing about 6' front off the teebox facing the ball on the tee. At that point, the course owner had a talk with the dog owner and the dog stayed home from then on.
