They are both in the 95 - 120lb range. Wouldn't 10 to 12 grams of oil be quite a bit?

That's why gelcaps are not ideal for bigger dogs (or, IMHO, humans; that's another story, but I suspect that the manufacturers prefer to make the gelcaps look like a viable and convenient option and so do not mention that a real therapeutic dosage has nothing to do with 1000 mg a day. One clue is seen in the "serving" on the label of the liquid oil v. the amount that's contained in the gelcap, of even the same manufacturer. It's typical that the liquid recommends a teaspoon. But that's almost 5 of the gelcaps if they are 1-gram caps).
I agree with the 1000-mg-per-ten-pounds protocol that many people use. You'll see that the instructions on Grizzly pump fish oil for dogs is about the same ratio.
P.S.
If a dog is on an RX blood thinner, however, you must decide on Omega 3 supplementation with his health provider.
wow - i've been way under dosing my dogs. they just get one of the capsules, or two pumps of grizzly salmon oil per day. i wonder just how shiny their coats would get with 1g per 10lb dosage.....?

My dogs HATED the salmon oil that I just ordered. Of course I got the bigger more ecconomical size.
My hound was picky about Salmon Oil too, so I mixed it is a small amount of hamburger for a while. He now licks his bowl clean to get all the oil off the bottom.
He likes the Grizzly better as well.
As far as kelp and alfalfa, I have always fed them together. Never crossed my mind to separate.

The Grizzly dosage (on the bottle) is 7-8 pumps for dogs over 75 pounds. How much do your dogs weigh?
I think it's important to note that 7-8 pumps of Grizzly Salmon Oil for a dog over 75 lbs is if you're using the 8oz bottle. If you are using the oil from a 16 or 32 oz bottle it's only 4 pumps.
