Future plans = FRI at the Canadian championships, and continue working on the whole Ring program to FRIII
Thanks Everyone for the congrats .. Sasha passed her Brevet Dog of Defense with a score of 93.4 on 100 which is a high in trial out of 4 dogs doing Brevet. Sasha as well as passed her CASU temperment test with flying colours. The Judge was Luigi Ricci from France and the decoys who worked the dogs were Fernando Dosta FR Level III (Mexico) and Marc Villian FR Level III from France. The day was super hot up here with high high humidity so that it was really hard on the dogs. I made sure to dip Sasha's feet in a bucket of H20 and rub H20 on her belly and neck before we got on the field and that made a big difference in her performance. A few of the other dogs went over to the shade while working and cost their handlers lots of points.
On a side note Sasha ripped Dosta's suit the first day of the seminar and on the 3rd day she ripped off the Demanant Patch off of Marc Villain's suit. He was looking at her with a silly grin on his face shaking his head in amazement as we all laughed. Not bad for a runt of the litter that was supposed to end up a pet! 45 lbs of Dynoooomite!
A funny little ancedote from the trial .. I did mention it was hellishly hot. I have been dealing with a family emergency all week as well. So I had to leave Montreal early Thursday and then go back to the trial early yesterday. I forgot my pants and since that is 5 points lost off of general presentation points. I borrowed a pair of nylon rain pants as you can see in Jenn's pics from another competitor so as not to lose those points. Wearing those made the heat worse than a sauna!
By the time we got to the bite-work my sunscreen was dripping into my eyes from me sweating and I could barely see 5 feet in front of me. We walked up to Dosta during the defense of handler with one eye closed so as to only have one eye burning and the other eye I could barely see from the burn. So we did the exercise basically blind! I just remembered the qoute from some of the SAR people here
"Trust your dog" and went with it.
I was so glad the routine was over so I could wipe my eyes!
Thanks everyone who has helped us along this journey we couldn't have done it without you! Special Thanks to Jennifer for coming up from Toronto to be a part of our cheering section, it means a lot to me having great friends like yourself.
