I feed my dogs EVO when I forget to pull out their raw for the night(new baby in the house helps me to forget sometimes :P ) It's a great food and my GSD who is naturally a picky eater(loves her raw, not kibble so much) will eat it.

There doesn't seem to be fleas around her adn she is on frontline. She chews more in the groin area and on her back knees. She does not chew on her paws, but sometimes she will chew on her side a little. I have tried to keep an eye on any triggers for the itching, but haven't found any. Thanks for all your feedback. I have had her for only 4 months and really want to give her a good home.

We are currently feeding california natural and doing very well, Zeus has always been kinda itchy and when I tried EVO it actually got worse. We were originaly on canidae but he still itched (plus I didn't care for the changes and the problems I have heard people are having) So far about 9 or 10 weeks on cali nat and almost no itching, very little shedding, great stools.
I have also heard many good things about orijen, that would have been my next choice. I'm a little leary about wellness and Eagle Pack because I heard they were bought out by a larger co. and are being made in the diamond foods plant.

If you part the fur where she itches, do you see any rash or bumps? If you look in the groin, is there any greasy-looking or waxy-looking skin, and is there any odor?
BTW, just to reinforce what I posted before, better food is crucial for a dog with atopy; it's just that the food is less likely to be the actual allergen than fleas or inhalants.

That's just it. . .I look and it is a little red, but no bumps, smell or anything other than the redness. I thought that I might
see something like flaky skin, etc. but can't see anything, no bumps, no rash, she doesn't even scratch herself raw. That's why I am so purplexed. . .I don't think that it is nerves as she has a good even temperment.

Gotcha.
The redness seems to be just from scratching? How much scratching are we talking about? Does it interrupt her sleep?

Ah.
Let's back up, then.
How old is she? How long has she been itchy? How do the insides of her ears look?
Is the dog on fish oil and vitamin E?
Is it seasonal? Any time of day that's worse?

She has just turned a year old. . .she's been itchy for almost the whole 4 months I have had her. She was a rescue dog who was just dropped off with no history and the foster parent fed her Purina Ons, so I have as well. Her ears look good, but she is not on fish oil and vitamin E. As a matter of fact, she isn't on any suppliments.

I have to back up a little more. When I said that other allergens were more likely than food, I didn't know that this was the food.
That's very low on the food list. I am sure that you didn't know this. So you were right to come here for suggestions!
I would change the food to one of the suggestions in the thread, and I would start fish oil and E immediately (anti-inflammation).
How much does she weigh?
Which Purina One recipe/formula is it?
