It is nice, for sure. It was a surprise when I adopted Teagan though, I was like 'you're both GSDs! what the....!' Your guy sounds like he was a sweetie
Luc is so wonderfully sweet and loyal though. It's funny, both my brother (my dog-sitter) and I notice people are SO scared of him! (even if Teagan's not around). They'll cross the street, sudden direction changes, whatever. He'll be walking nicely on-leash, with his standard 'GOLLY GEE!!!! WOW!!!' expression, and I guess it's his size (and maybe colour), but people react to him a lot.
Though last week I was having dinner w/a friend, and he said plaintively 'I like Luc....he's so nice. Teagan makes me nervous, she's always next to you and staring at me.' I was like 'you've only met her a few times!' She actually only has about 3 people other than me that are on the 'checked and good' list (my mom, brother, and bf). The two of them couldn't have more different personalities - always on vs. goofy and if given the chance, a bit lazy....
But still though, Luc is always there for me, I honestly can't imagine having gone out all night for the first time without him there with me.
You'd be surprised how many people will avoid walking close to a big black dog....even if it's a poodle! In Max's younger days when the doorbell rang he would take a flying leap from about 6ft and hit the steel front door right where the stained glass was, about head high and bark. Then I would come and put him in a sit stay again about 6ft from the front door. Once I opened the door to find the Chinese food delivery guy at the bottom of the driveway, by the sidewalk. He wouldn't come back and I had to go out and pay him!
Max enjoyed his little door game and after his initial thump and bark he was always very calm at the door. He was a good boy.
he sounds like a sweetie. i get that some people just don't like/are scared of dogs, and i respect that, but sometimes it just makes me laugh with luc. it used to bother me, but....hey.
Good gosh! I thought I was doing good to be up to 5 miles a day and 8 on the weekends!!..... and even that is more than I want to do some times..until he starts pacing and looking for things to get into.
Good for Luc for being so awesome and such a great hiking partner!!

Jennifer,
It sounds like you guys had so much fun. What an inspiration you are. I know Enoch would love to do something like that. Now if only he can convince me.
