I had Cockatiels and Nandays when I was in highschool. I do kind of miss them... but I'm already maxed out with the dogs and the aquarium, lol.
I got my first cockatiel when I was in middleschool and had the chicken pox, lol. That I remember pretty clearly.

I have 2 small parrots - A Quaker Parrot named Martha Mae & a white Indian Ringneck named Captain Morgan, I enjoy having them BUT Martha can get to squawking sometimes and drive me soo crazy I'll get to thinking...maybe if I open the back door...JK
and Martha likes to fly in and sit on my head while I'm playing on the computer and preen my hair which is kinda funny

hi,
i have a Senegal, Gideon. he isnt super loud generally, but every morning as i am replacing his food dish, he leans toward me and belts out a huge SQUAWK directly into my left eardrum and i am sure i will be deaf in that ear in another few yrs....
he has some hilarious vocals--he can imitate my doxie mix's bark perfectly and often does that sound, followed by "Beetle!" in a tone of reprimand. he also imitates squeaky toy sounds, the midorwave beep, the phone dial beeps, a creaky door, and a few rather unflattering imitations of me... my GSD *just* noticed that there is a BIRD in that giant cage! (he is just over 6 months). and he watches him now in utter fascination.

African Grey that I had was a hoot.
Vocabulary was off the chart and he said things we did not even teach him.
I think the best thing was when living at my mom and dads, he learned their names when they talked to each other.
Dad would be downstairs, Mom would be up and Charlie would holler "BOB", "BBBOOBBBB", "BBBBBOOOOOOBBBBBBB" and my dad would holler "WHAT" and there would be silence, so dad would trudge all the way upstairs to find out what mom wanted and she would look at him like he was daft.
They finally figured out it was the "STUPID BIRD"
After that, if dad fell for it, as soon as he got up the stairs, Charlie would say "STUPID BIRD".
His favorite poem to recite was
Peacorn
Popnuts
Sodagum
ChewingWater
My dad taught him that as well.

I love parrots, they are entertaining to the max!
Unfortunately....Fetz loves parrots also. And they're way too expensive to have him leap seven feet into the air and pick one off in flight as a Scooby Snack.

that's hilarious Carol!
Gideon likes rope perches and before he destroys them, he will stand on one and we say Bang! and he lets himself fall totally backwards and hang upside down by his feet! its REALLY funny. i always have to be careful how i position things so he doesnt crack his little head on something when he free-falls!
we taught him some funny but naughty things to say, geeze they sure pick up fast! he says "I gotta crap" and "Behave MONKEY!!" among a few others that i would be too embarrased to post...haha. he also imitates me calling my son's name and he comes out and says "what?" and i might not even be in the house!
they are very funny.

Well, I've got gouldian finches and I adore them. They don't do much but their singing is amazingly beautiful.
My next planned bird will be a pair of plum headed parakeets but that won't be for a few years down the line. Best of luck with your new little squeeker. They are very cool birds.

Hi!
We have a yellow-naped amazon who is going to be 8 years old this December. We have had her since she was only 10 weeks old.
She is very sweet and not at all destructive. She does not say much, only "hello" and "wow" in Finnish, but she does like to sing and whistle. At the moment she knows the tunes from Animal Hospital (UK), MacGyver, The good, the bad and the ugly, and she likes to make driving and shooting noises when we are playing video games too loud.
