I have the ecollar on mine all of the time. Sometimes I'll go a week without having to use it. But, it's definitely nice to have it there when needed.
The other day I took him out to pee and he saw the neighbor kid a few hundred feet away throw a stick. He was off like a rocket after that stick and wouldn't recall. I gave him a nick, and he was back at my side in 2 seconds.

Lynn you bring up a very important point. After 2.5 years I am sure you are well bonded with your girl. That being the case don't second guess your instincts when it comes to her behavior. Any incidents I have ever experienced with my dog were always proceeded with my thinking I should leash him, or make him wait before getting out of the car, or cut the hike short, or take him home etc.
My dog gives me all the warnings I need to prevent an incident; his inattentiveness is always apparent. I just needed to learn when he sends a message; it's my responsibility to respond before he acts out.
Now for the beer and tequila; they are also wonderful additions to a celebration of a great training session. As a matter of fact I think I should poor a glass of wine in your honor right now.
