I'll post a dissenting point of view. One, a dominatrix getup is always appropriate. Two, I think there's a place for her training. I think these are people who have created their own problems and just the smallest amount of training and structure is all thats needed to show these people a better way to live with a dog. If you have ever done anything other then feed and let your dog out it's not for you. But for all those people that just let dogs get away with setting their own boundries, this stuff can be a first step to learning a better way. I would like to see them do one of those swap shows using Victoria Stillwell and one of those English Nannys. Stillwell with three wild kids and the Nanny with 6 out of control Brussels griffons, all in the appropriate getups of course.

She's very famous for her outfits!
One thing you have to remember is that she is from england. Over here very few people have even heard of a pinch/prong collar - it's not like the US where you can get them in a pet store, I know of only one 'shop' in the whole country where you can get them and that's attached to a working GSD kennel. E collars also have a very bad rep.
From what I have seen attitudes towards training are far different in the US than over here. If you train with a rattle bottle you are a monster, way too controlled by the APDT.
She used to be an actress who got extra money by working as a dog walker - then suddenly she is a trainer on TV. Go figure.

I find the show mildly amusing ... more for the commentary provided by myself and my dad than for the show content, lol. I am usually very skeptical about the validity of the show and the timelines. I don't really believe that anyone can take a seriously dog aggressive, HUGE dog (black lab/great dane ... anyone see that episode?) and within the span of just a few minutes have the previously lunging aggressive dog walking within feet of another dog and ignoring it. The result is possible, I have done it, but I don't believe anyone can do it in 10 minutes or less. If you can, great ... I don't believe you, lol. I would have to witness it start to finish to buy it.
I did get a little hot on that same episode (and one other) where the owners were feeding a home cooked diet and she made them switch the dogs to dog food. Granted, the people were spending a ridiculous amount of time on food prep for the dogs, but she stated that dog food was the proper way to feed a dog. I hope it was at least a good quality kibble.

Two thumbs up on the outfit!
Put a couple of pounds on her and I might watch it more often. (scrawny chicks today)
She does do a bit of training but as with CM's show she's more about teaching leadership.
Without that, dog training is nothing more then controlling the dog with force.

The first time I saw the show she was working with a dog aggression problem. Her first attempt to fix it was by bringing another dog head on. Right then I knew she was full of crapple.
She's OK for fixing tiny problems...the bigger issues should be left to more experienced people.

That's about right, IMHO. I could probably do half of what she does, and I'm young enough to not have my driver's license yet! I also think TV is not a great place for dog training. They cut out all the intermediate steps. It doesn't make it realistic and it will confuse a few poor souls out there w/ out of control dogs.

I think she has some good suggestions for the novice dog owner. I don't like the fact that she walks into the house and the dog automatically listens to her. Sorry, in most cases that is not reality.
I feel the same way about Cesar Milan. That guy has a cult following. I actually spoke to a friend who said her friend wanted a pitbull because they were docile dogs. I asked her where she got that idea. She said she watched Cesar and his pitbulls were docile. This lady has never owned a dog in her life. IMO a pitbull is not the dog for a new dog owner.
I took a client and her pet dog up to the shopping center to work on distractions for her jumping dog. I asked an aquaintance that worked nearby if she would mind petting the dog to see if it would jump on her so the client could correct the dog for jumping. The aquaintance told me that she would pet the dog, however if it jumped she was going to correct it. I asked her how she would correct it and she told me she would knee it in the chest because that is what Cesar told her to do with her dogs and it worked. I told her I did not want her correcting the dog for jumping, I wanted the handler to correct the dog...not her. I explained to her that all training methods do not work on all dogs. If you knee this particular dog it thinks you are rough housing and it really goes beserk. (Boxer, Mastiff mix)She refused to pet the dog because this was not what Cesar says to do. These people thinks this guy is God, don't they realize that it is a TV show! A pre recorded, edited TV show.
