Very exciting!

I have been researching breeders recently and am not familiar with alot of the titles. I have a list of title translations but can't find KKL1 anywhere. What does that stand for?

KKL is a breed survey there is KKL 1 & 2

Korklasse ... it is the breed survey. The are rated kkl1 (recommended for breeding) and kkl2 (suitable for breeding). If there is an "a" added to it, that refers to the hips.

Hey Jenni, I don't know anything about breeding so bare with me if these are dumb questions.I'm curious why are you starting your breeding program with a female thats allready trained,titled,and possibly bred? Wouldnt those things be useful to learning what the female offers in a breeding?
How will you really know the character of your foundation bitch? Is there going to be further training you'll do to to know?
The only people I know who import are people who themselves travel to europe,know the breeders and trainers personally and have first hand knowledge of who evaluates the dog and how they do it.They're people that have done it for a long time but I've never really had the chance to ask someone how they got started. Thanks.

Hmmm, not sure I understand your question, Steve. Elaborate, please! I am trusting someone who knows what I want and has extremely high standards to choose my perfect dog...to avoid disappointment.

She may not be bred. I have no idea about that. If I can find a stud I like in Germany, and it works with her heat cycle, I'll have her bred over there. If not, I have other ideas .

Weelll...how do you know the character of your puppy? You don't. It's a crapshoot. A crapshoot I'm a bit tired of, actually. Which is why this time, I decided to eliminate the guesswork and enlist the help of old pros who know exactly what I like in a dog, and who have actually owned and/or worked dogs in her pedigree-not just looked at pictures and read scorebooks. Many people aren't familiar w/some of those dogs, but old Schh people are, if they were competing at a high level. This time, the only crapshoot, the way I see it, is trusting someone else to pick my dog (which I'm not remotely worried about) and if she's fertile. It would be a bit disappointing to find out she's not fertile, lol.

I don't believe the dog themselves is all you need to know for breeding decisions. I plan on keeping at least one or 2 pups, putting at least one or 2 more w/people who know what they're doing and looking at and will give honest feedback on them. That way, I'll know if I want to continue breeding her, and if so, to who? Pet owners tend to think that their dog is the best dog in the world, so if they went to pet homes, I wouldn't really be hearing the good, the bad, and the ugly, which is what I want to know. Capri may be outstanding, personally, but if she doesn't replicate herself, then she's of little value.

You lost me. How is this not what I'm doing? I would NEVER go to Europe and try to get a dog for myself, or try to buy one advertised over there. What a great way to get ripped off! Capri was never offered for sale. I sent someone on a hunt months ago and it they found her, from a breeding out of their male, but it wasn't their litter. I think 40 years and personally knowing most the dogs in the lineage qualifies them to better accomplish this task than I.

BTW, Qira's fine. Just turned one. She's positively charming. Just ask Simon.

Michelle, I don't know. We need to figure out when her heat cycle is, then it all depends on what happens over there. If she's bred over there, then I should have puppies by summer. If not, then it could be very late this year. I really would like to have her bred there- less shipping involved and easier on her.

Having a titled parent leads to more $ for the puppies when you sell them Steve. And like was stated, a lot of guess work is already taken care of in this scenario (titled, examined, temperament)
