I didnt do it... nobody SAW me do it... and you cant prove anything.. even if I DID do it... HE told me to do it.. (points at the neighbor dog) and I'm not responsible for it!!
My 65 lb mixed breed, I am certain, has Jack Russell in his ancestry somewhere. I have heard of small dogs figuring out how to stand on bricks, pails, or anything else in order to get the job done.
I can only speak from having Neb (the size of a large JRT, and I'm sure a JRT mix) unneutered and becoming interested in the birds and the bees with respect to Teagan (GSD). They can do it! Some stretching and a bit of jumping is all that's required. (Assuming their mean owners would let them, of course....I really cramp Neb's fun)
This sort of makes me want to do it with Yote, I know he has something else in him besides the husky and it would be fun to see what the results come back as.

I like Connie's answer, too.
I've heard of bitches in heat who will lay or crouch down so the male can reach too.

I spent some time and several emails with a couple of the manufacturers of DNA tests. I wanted to do a review of the products in Alaska Dog News, a publication I produce with the animal shelters. So many people ask I thought it would be interesting. I have just enough high school biology, 3 years working vets, one attempt at reading a genetics book (got to the 3rd chapter and got lost) so I am dangerous. My e-mails just didn’t convince me that there was anything more scientific than fortune telling here. They are just locating common markers. The recognized breeds have a mix of dogs in their background. I am sure hound and whippet have been bred into American Field Trial Labradors, I had an AKC registered black “whippet like” Labrador that worked like a maniac and had a lineage of FC titles all the way back.
For the article, I talked to a few breed judges and a vet and came to feel that it’s what the dog does that will give the most accurate measure of it’s lineage not what it looks like. If it retrieves it’s a retriever, if it points a pointer, if it throws its head back and howls with the other sled dog kennels he may be a sled dog. Like wise, even if it has a Ch. title, if it doesn’t retrieve it’s not a Labrador. I still haven’t written the article it became so emotionally charged I had to put it aside for a while.
Here is our Pointing Huskaluki, Morgan. According to the breeder (yes bred on purpose&hellip he is Saluki X Pointer/Husky. Looks more like he needs an apricot scarf than a harness. He pulls, points, howls with us and then reclines on the couch, looks at us with his ice blue eyes and crosses his legs at wrist. “He’s so vane”. More on Morgan at Morgan with Molly on the left and Daisy on the right- our 3 rehomed dogs.
