at risk of highjacking, but it's sort of related....as Toby still is unemployed , he was thinking about joining the toronto police....but isn't sure.
i think it would be a great, fulfilling job for him, he'll have great pension benefits (okay, i work at the municipal pension plan doing governance work so i'm massively biased in that regard), i would worry about him getting hurt of course.
but, i told him i thought it was probably the sort of job he should be totally sure about, and i think that's sort of his conclusion as well. i suppose it could be just a plain old job, not a vocation, but it strikes me as being the sort of job that probably is satisfying if you're really committed to it.
thoughts of police here? i see a lot of advantages if he could get in, but....
I sort of feel the same way you do, I don't know if for the long haul he would truly be happy doing it.
Dealing with shoplifters and their issues is one thing, and the assorted crazies and weird goings that happen in the stores. People do some really really bizarre stuff!!! Most of them are not appropriate to share on a family board, but most of them are good for a laugh
With the stuff they have to deal with at a single store I can only imagine how much that would be multiplied when working in the general public.
