It's funny how he can suck back a neck in a few minutes, but very gingerly cleans his pills and eggshells of any remaining food and leaves it for me to clean up
I once watched Turbo remove the innards from a chick before he ate it.....a chick.....a freakin' chick.....eat the dang thing already.
I bet piercing the caps will do the trick. Then you can mix the vit E directly in with the salmon oil.
I drop mine right into the bowl but all her food is mixed around and coated in salmon oil, including the pill. She eats it with a mouthful of the rest of it because I haven't seen it spit out and laying around yet.
I used to give it to her by cutting chunks of hotdog and poking a hole in the middle then sticking the pill inside it then giving it to her. She would spit them out if I didn't act like she won a marathon for taking it from me, when she gets excited she'll swallow it lightning fast and without even blinking. Wonder if she even tasted the hotdog!
Michael, he knew what he was doing, heading for the good stuff first! . It is amazing how particular they can be over the oddest things.

What a good idea!! I'm going to have to try that. I can use hot dogs for training and slip one in there!! Hot dogs are one thing he cannot resist. I've always said he would leave me in a heartbeat for someone with hotogs.
Mine eats them like candy also, but how about making a slit in whatever meat source you're feeding to create a small pocket and sticking it in there? Horizontally, so that you can really get it under the meat...
Never had a problem with both of my dogs eating their Vit E pills and their Benadryl pills. Just put the pills in the bowl, put a dollop of plain yogurt on top of them, a couple of squirts of salmon oil over that, then the rest of the food on top of that. No problem! They are finished eating in less than one minute and licking the bowl clean!
I've never had a problem just dropping the vit E pills into my dog's nighttime meal and swirling everything around, but he CAN be picky about meds sometimes, which don't always have a very pleasant tasting coating on them. In that case, since I always want to be REALLY sure he gets them into his stomach, I'll do the hot dog trick and hand feed him a few chunks with the pills inside before he gets his dinner - cheese also works super well for my dog.
Whichever tasty food that's chosen as a disguise, if I had a super fussy dog, I'd be inclined to give all pills by hand, just to make sure he was eating them without the whole watching and waiting to see what he avoids in the food bowl. JMO
Hey Alex! A fellow Coloradoan!! I live in Ft Collins. Know of any good trainers this far north? We have a TON (probably because of CSU and the vet school) but I have more experience than the ones I've seen so far!!
Hi Jennifer, unfortunately, I don't really know anyone that far north. We have a lady visiting our SchH club and she drives to Denver from Longmont because she can't find a club out there. What kind of training are you interested in?
Lynne: that's what I've been doing but he manages to find them
Natalya: it doesn't hinder his eating, he just laps them out of his mouth when he finds them and continues on with the meal. At the end when he's licking his bowl clean he'll pick them up lick them off, get all the tripe/yogurt/oil/good stuff off of them and spit them back in the bowl as if to tease me .
Alex, that's okay. I just wanted to teach something new but all the trainers I have seen here are less-knowledgeable than I am with all this leerburg info. I was just wondering if you knew of anyone good up here.
Thanks for the help guys, I can't believe I forgot about hot dogs
