I nearly got scrunched by a truck a few years ago so I totally get the adrenaline reaction and "life flashing before your eyes" thing. I freaked out on the guy...who was French and probably didn't understand one word the wide-eyed, unhinged, American woman was shrieking at him.
at the time i just reacted, and then when i was across the intersection i thought 'plate number! cops!' but he was gone by then of course. i wish i had....not that i had my phone with me anyways. i wasn't thinking at the time that i could take his plate number and then call in later.
Pretty much....I was in full reaction mode, at the end of which I thought 'why don't I have my phone with me?!' but yeah....logic wasn't high in my brain at the time.
Ok.. Can you breath a bit? I do understand you might be angry and frustrated. I have been in several car accidents, but I have never lost my temper on anyone. Everyone makes mistake and no one is perfect.
Yeah but most of the time those "mistakes" aren't between someone piloting a potentially deadly 1000lb. metal missile and someone who has no protection. It's ALWAYS the drivers responsibility to look for pedestrians before entering an intersection if the ped has the right of way. I have nearly been hit multiple times. The only reason I haven't been hit is because I look and listen constantly and don't trust drivers to obey the law or keep an eye out. I yell at them and flip them the bird. If I have something handy(water bottle) I'll throw it at the car if they are so freaking absorbed in their cell phone or MAKE UP that they don't realize that they just almost killed me. If they are trying to hook a right and are totally oblivious to the fact that I'm in the crosswalk and would have been hit if I continued to walk I slam my hand on their hood.
I'll gladly pay a fine for tossing something harmless or smacking their hood if it gets those people to WAKE THE HECK UP! Do they realize how much damage a car can do? What if it was a child? What if they just killed me? What if they just made me a paraplegic who can't even use the bathroom without help? They would destroy all of my life's dreams and make me a huge burden to my family because they couldn't take the .5 secs to look before they go. So yes it is a big deal and something worth getting mad about.
