While thinking of how to build the walls, palisade, etc. would it be beneficial to construct them with the ability to shorten/raise the height?
The way it would be built you could insert/remove pieces of wood by sliding down the framework of the jump. I'm probably not explaining myself in the best way, but thats really the only way I know how to put it lol.
I was thinking of this concept, b/c I thought it'd be easy to teach the dogs how to jump it. Instead of them looking at this big huge tall thing thinking there’s no way I'm going to jump over that!
Our training wall/A-frame has chains on both sides of it that hook. The longer the chain, the shorter the wall - shorten the chain and the wall is higher. Does this make sense?
If I'm reading your question right Megan, I would say everything has to be built with the ability to lower it. Your dogs not going to want to go over a jump or an A-frame at full height in the beginning. Teaching him to go over things correctly in the beginning is important, they need to have good form so that when it is at full height they'll clear it cleanly.
Try this site! It will direct you to all sorts of other sites for building and training agility equiptment.
Some are no longer there but plenty of others are.
Thanks Bob, I can't get the link to work, but I'll find the site later today at work .
I just joined an agility equipment forum that has some pretty good blueprints for all sorts of different stuff. If anyone is interested, just send me a message.
So far since I last posted we've built a tire jump and a pause table. I love them both and they are both working really great.
I have the blueprints for the tire jump if anyone is interested. Scott just built the pause table, but I do have a good blueprint for one of those too.
