Haha, I like this thread! Several people had good inputs since I have a mini pin who can't stand the cold too. We have a dog door. I don't have a problem with him during the day when it is sunny, but when it is near bedtime. He never pees on the slide door when it is not cold, and enjoys sniffing plants and grass.
At night, he tries to avoid going outside in the cold. He used to wait from 6 30 pm until 8 AM before he urinates again. I know he was holding very hard all night because there were several little "urinate" spots in his bed. He has to be on leash at night because he will go outside to pee on the slide door. He found out that it was faster way to pee because he can get back indoor right away!
