I haven't been a super-long client - I started using them when I adopted Luc, though I did sometimes go to pick up Mitch's (my oldest cat) sub-q fluids there previously since my cat vet was far (I have vets for each species....well, the guinea pigs and rabbits have the same vet - though I am thinking of moving my cats to the dog's vet since I do like them, though of course, since we moved, it's now far too, but not as far as the cat's vet is).
I do get the 'you have a crapload of animals' discount
I will ask. Luc has enough build-up from years of crap in a bag that brushing/raw/recreational big bones have helped, but he's going to need a proper cleaning.
Either way, I am planning on getting him done in the next couple of months. I know dental health can affect kidney function, among other things, and I hate that Teagan and Neb have these pearly white teeth and Luc has mixed teeth.

Dental and gum problems are also a potential source of systemic inflammation.
But I guess my big worry was that dogs are hard-wired not to show pain (weakness), and the thought of a chronic toothache just gave me the willies. What if eating actually hurt?
Yeah, I get the "crapload of animals" discount, too. LOL

Yeah, I know. His gums are pretty good based on the regular checks I do. And I've gotten his teeth better, but there's some stuff I just can't get off myself.
Huh, everyone got biiiig bones last night and Luc did take the longest to go through his - but I figured that was because he had the most meat on his bone. Everyone totally finished there bones except for Luc who left a little hard bit but even Teagan couldn't conquer it. Neb then grabbed it, took it outside, lost it, and then found it again. When I took Teagan into the yard she kept sniffing intently everywhere he'd dropped it....LOL!

Oliver is awake.
BTW, she assured me that they have done at least one brachycephalic dog a week during this winter dental special. I was happy to hear that.
Anyway, he had two molars growing wrong -- side by side -- with a huge ball of debris, including hair, stuck between, and one of the two teeth severely eroded. She pulled that one.
She said this would have felt like popcorn stuck between the teeth, along with the probable pain from the cavity.
She said that the growth on his eyelid did not look like cancer. She removed it. She said it COULD be cancer, so I have to decide whether to spend $150 sending it to the lab. But meanwhile she offered to keep it in a jar, so it’s not a decision to make today. She glued the suture ends up to his lid so they cannot irritate his eyeball.
He can come home in a couple of hours.
WHEW!!!!!!!!!

That is great news! Go Oliver! Glad he's doing well. Wow about the molars and debris.

Yea!
Poor Oliver...having debris stuck in your teeth for a mere few minutes is uncomfortable and annoying. So glad it went well and the problems have been sorted out. He'll feel SO much better now.

He is home, yes.
He's groggy, but the first thing he did when I set him down in the house was stagger to the fridge and try to pry it open.
I guess the drugs gave him delusions of super-strength, and he had fasted for almost 24 hours.
He is not bothering the bandage/stitches on the eyelid, so I have not had to put the collar on him.
He had yogurt for supper.

His teeth are not the white-white of a young dog -- more an ivory. BUT they are shiny, smooth, and beautiful!
She kept the extracted one for me. What a disaster. it was like a half-tooth (from decay) with raggedy roots. It looked awful to me.
I am BEYOND glad that we did this and didn't wait any longer. I had NO IDEA that the poor lil guy had that mess back there.
No one did. The vet had looked in there and so had the SPCA. In fact, the SPCA had extracted two very bad ones before I adopted him. But of course, they are in-and-out, cheapest possible, often donated vet work (necessarily).
I had looked, too, and done regular squirty gum-line treatments and fingertip brushing. I cannot blame anyone at all for not knowing that he had this little pile of crud.
But she showed me the pocket where this mess had collected, and it really was not visible without the mouth held open and some tools at work.
